M&M Series
Timo's How To | Clothes Inventory | The Story of Creation | M&M's
Artist Statement

In this series, I use M&M's inside containers to symbolize the changing structures of social groups. Because of globalized shifts in society, the groups people were once put in, often, no longer fit. Members of society were lumped into groups as a matter of interaction, but now, people strain to understand if those groupings even exist.

There is something universal about these multi-colored sugar pills. People know them as they know themselves. Just as humans find themselves disoriented in a changing society, my M&Ms are found in unusual and disorienting scenes. With new markings, and within arranged sets of containers, the shapes and colors of my M&M's play off of each other. They vibrate in their surroundings as if the conflicts they represent have manifest into little candy-filled worlds.
